COMETHE
Orée coordinates the COMETHE project
Having won the 2007 Call for projects of the Eco-technology and Sustainable Development Research Programme (PRECODD) launched by the National Research Agency, the COMETHE project, coordinated by Orée, began its operational phase on 9 April.
The primary objective of the COMETHE project is to design a methodology and tools for the implementation of industrial ecology approaches on a business park scale.
For three years, in 4 French regions, pilot tests enabling the capitalisation of knowledge in technological and social science domains will be performed in seven business parks to develop, as part of a comprehensive decision-making aid tool, a range of methodological modules and complementary techniques targeting both businesses and trading estate managers.
The following tools will be developed during the 3 years of the COMETHE project:
-
Creation of an integrated tool supporting four independent methodological modules, for reporting the implementation of an industrial ecology approach (Functional Specifications):
-
Methodology for the diagnostic of the trading estate and territory;
- Methodology for the feasibility and impact study of eco-industrial synergies;
- Methodology for the prospective study and establishment of development scenarios;
- Methodology for the sustainable management of the trading estate;
To develop and capitalise the required knowledge, COMETHE relies on 7 test territories with different characteristics, derived from 4 French regions:
-
Territories without any development and/or marketing plan:
- Maritime industrial development site of Le Pouzin (Ardèche département);
- Torvilliers industrial estate (Aube département);
- Greater Troyes industrial park (Aube département).
-
Requalified trading estates or territories:
-
Trading estate of the Marne and Gondoire conurbation committee (Seine-et-Marne département);
- Deux-Synthe industrial estate (Nord département);
-
“Advanced” trading estates or territories:
-
Deux-Synthe industrial estate (Nord département);
- Savoie Technolac Technopole (Savoie département);
- Industrial estate of the Nogent region (Aube département);
- Greater Troyes industrial park (Aube département).
COMETHE is supported by a consortium of twelve partners with varied and complementary competences:
Research-expert centre:
Orée (association – coordinator), CREIDD (laboratory), CEIA (association), Clersé-Ifresi (laboratory), Auxilia (association), Systèmes Durable (very small business) and Evéa (small / medium-sized business).
